Be the Planter!....... 2-24-15

Well people I have to start out giving the news because I can't even hold it in!! My Change is one that I couldn't even believe when they told me...... I'm going back to my birth land-  CARMELO COLONIA!!!! :D Wow I am stoked and nervous at the same time!

Ok now for the past week here in Salto. The 5 zones from the Northern part of Uruguay met together to listen to Elder Viñas from the 70. He came with such a Spirit and I learned a ton from him. He put such an emphasis on the Fruits of Repentance and focused completely on the purifying power of Christs' Atonement. The Spirit was strong there and I grew in my testimony. I know that Christ is the Savior of this world and the key to feel that His Atonement is taking part in our lives is by Humbling ourselves before him repenting daily and living faithfully to the Covenants we have made. It is a life long process and He requires it. It's no wonder Christ teaches in His Doctrine to Endure to the End.

Us as Zone Leaders we then had the privileged to have a little meeting with him to see what the needs of each zone are and how we are going to keep progressing. He basically told us that we need to keep creating Spiritual Experiences with the Members and helping them grow in their Spirituality. He also talked about the need to help the Priesthood Holders because it is the foundation of the Church and how it grows efficiently.

Wow what a day it was. A lot of answers were answered and things were talked about that I was questioning. It is basically described in Jacob 4 which was my Personal Study the past couple of days. I think that is my favorite Chapter right now.

The other experience was being able to go back to Jose and Estela. They let us in and we shared the Book of Mormon with them. Estela couldn't believe that there was other Scripture apart from the Bible and even more interesting from here in the Americas. Jose also softened up a little too. He said that he is going to read! Both of them committed to read, ponder, and pray to God if the Book is true. I know they are going to get their answer from Him and The Book of Mormon is going to be how Jose´s heart is softened- It has so much power to change when we humbly read and ask.

I was a little sad to be leaving them, but that is how it has been for me here in Salto. I feel that I was a definite "planter." That has been a cool experience for me and I know that it is a part just as important as those who get to "reap." What a blessing it is to be a part of this Great Work of the Lord! Love you all and the next time you will be hearing from me I will be back in my "childhood" neighborhood! Have a great week!                   ELDER Devashrayee

Remind Others of OUR Purpose......... 2-16-15

Greetings from Uruguay! I sometimes forget that I am kinda far away from the states, but this week here, far far away, went really well. A little bit ago we had a Zone Leader Council as a mission with President to talk about the new Plan and what we need to do have true growth here is Uruguay. It was nice to be able to hear others ideas and receive the guidance from President. He is a man called of God.

This past Tuesday Morning we put together some graphs of how the Zone has been doing the past month with the new plan and new key indicators and it was a great experience for us to see. The excitement from the new method to work led to many days of outstanding progress, but then it started going back down because the Lord truly does things in that way. I couldn't help but think of the Alma 32 and compare the plan to the seed. The seed gets planted and grows, but that is when it comes down to what we do to take care of it after. We all have a testimony of the Plan from the Spirit we felt and experiences, but now is the time to show our faith and not give up.

The Lord talked about this in the same section as the Parable of the Tower and All of the Strength of the House in 101:68. We can't go too quickly or run away- We just need to plan things out well and do our part and the Lord will bless us. It has been a true test of diligence and faith. We put some goals out as a companionship to change some beliefs and remind everyone of what our purpose is as missionaries of the Lord. In every single Lesson we started out saying why we were there and how we have been called of God to teach His Gospel and help them get closer to God through Repentance and Making Covenants with Him. It was awesome!

We had an awesome experience teaching a less active guy and his non member wife. We found them and taught them the Restoration but giving our purpose first and what we were there for. The Spirit was there strongly through out the whole Lesson and we invited Florencia to be baptized right there- She accepted without a second thought! It was cool because she even told us that her doubts and questions about why there are so many churches and ways of thinking if there is only ONE God were answered.

We then were able to go to the guy that we found last week that had drawn the Picture of Christ with the Lamb. We were with a member (Hermana Nan), and it turned out that they were life long friends! His name is Jose Maria and his wife is Estela. We taught them the Restoration as well giving them our purpose. The Hermana with us testified of the Church, and while I was reciting the Words of Joseph Smith and the First Vision the Little Room was filled with the Spirit. Estela started crying and said that she knows what we taught is from God and had no Idea that Joseph had seen God and Jesus Christ and had restored the Church of Christ. We invited them as well to be baptized and she accepted, but Jose didn't because he is Catholic and doesn't want to leave what he has. She asked us to pray so that his heart will be softened so they can move forward together. So that is exactly what we have been doing and it would be awesome from all of you as well!

I really enjoyed the week and I can't believe that this is the last full week of this change... another has flown by!! Love you all and hope you have a great week! Thanks for the help! Added some photos as well!

Members Are The BEST Missionaries....... 2-9-15

Well I'm back in the Cyber again people... These weeks are just getting faster and faster! But this past week was definitely one to smile about :) So we have a recent convert whose husband is a less active that recently got active in the church again. He has had a huge spark in his life and has been sharing the Gospel with everyone. We were able to go with him to visit a work friend and it was awesome! Our first lesson with a member and the person was comfortable from the beginning. References with Members is the best thing ever.

His work friend's mom is also not a member and we were walking by his house on the way to another lesson when he called to us to come over. His mom was there and he immediately asked us if we had the 20 minute video of the Restoration - I had brought it with me that day, and we shared it with his mom. She was quiet through the whole thing and after, when we talked about the Restoration, she didn't say anything either, but I know that she felt something. He was so excited! Little by little things happen as we give people the chance to feel the Spirit and learn the true Doctrine.

The other experience of the Week was Saturday. I spent it with a Teenager from here in Salto while my comp went to Montevideo for a temple sealing as well. It was Lucas' first time doing this and he was so nervous, but that changed as we had some cool experiences that Lord helped us have for his sake. The fist lesson that we had fell through and the other ones had just sent texts saying that they weren't going to be able to talk to us. My mind went racing trying to think of other people we had talked to, but nothing was coming to me. That's when I just felt that we should contact a couple of streets that we don't have anyone from. He was really timid at first to talk to the people especially because we had some awesome rejections earlier. He then began to open up as we found people that were willing to talk to us and hear what we had to share. He was excited to tell people what the Church and Christ had done for him in his life.

We ended up finding a man who has 3 daughters that live in another area and a lot of things had happened to him in his life- even a brain tumor. We pulled out the Restoration Pamphlet that has Christ giving a little lamb a hug and he froze... Looked at us and asked us if we would wait 2 minutes. I was confused at first and then just hoped that the man didn't come out yelling with material to argue with us. He did come out with a journal, but he opened it up and it was full of drawings that he had done years ago and he had drawn the exact same picture from the pamphlet! He didn't know from where he had seen it, but when he saw the Picture in our pamphlet it came rushing back. He told us that we are welcome back at any time because he knows we were sent from God!

The Lord has been blessing us with some great new people after quite a few weeks of not finding people ready to receive the Gospel. Ephesians 1:10 and 4:11-15 has helped me a lot to understand the Purpose of Christ`s Church and how it is doing the same thing in these last days before His Coming. It is a true Restoration of everything in Christ to help us be perfected in the faith and union. I am so grateful for the blessing of having His Restored Church in my life. Thanks for all of the support, prayers and Love! Love you all!!!               ELDER Devashrayee

Trust and Confidence Brings Great Things...... 2-2-15

Wasssup!! What a great week we had down here in Uruguay! We saw great progress as a mission and me personally as a missionary here! It has been incredible. The mission as a whole had the highest attendance in Sacrament Meeting and the most Hours working with Members too. The new plan is already bringing great fruits! It is simply changing every members mindset to think about the Gathering of Israel ALWAYS. Going with us to teach the less actives and sharing the Gospel with friends and family. I'm excited to see what keeps happening!

This week we also had 2 divisions with the District Leaders. One of them is finishing the mission here in 3 weeks and has been an amazing example and missionary. He was actually my Zone Leader back when I was a District Leader in Delta Del Tigre. He came to our area and we started out with a Companionship Study. It was a really cool experience.

We talked about the things that have marked us most in our missions. He read to me D&C 8:2 and we sat and pondered how important that scripture is and the need to learn how the Spirit works in us. I learned that the Spirit talks to our Mind, but what counts and what the Spirit will do is Dwell in your heart. That's why we feel the Spirit. I loved it. I then shared Helaman 12:1 which has been the biggest thing that I have noticed in my own life. I have so much to learn and that's why the Lord wants me to remember this Scripture. The Trust and Confidence in God is what brings to pass great things. It was a powerful study and it just led to great experiences that day finding people and teaching the Gospel!

The other Division I went with a younger missionary to his area. It is the most Humble area in the Zone and to be honest I enjoyed being there a lot! We had many lessons with investigators and we were able to find a new investigator that was already excited about baptism! The poor in Spirit truly are so receptive to the Spirit. One lesson stood out to me most though. We got to the house and he told me that we were going to teach about the Book of Mormon and he wanted me to start the lesson. It was really cool because I felt that I should bear my testimony of the Book first.

The Spirit strengthened my testimony of the Book of Mormon as I gave it. I have a strong testimony now that we truly don't know where our testimony is at until we share it and the Spirit has the chance to testify through us. Sharing your testimony is what will strengthen us.

They were two great days, then came the rough part. I ate something that wasn't cooked right and it killed me! I woke up Friday night with my stomach in knots.... Needless to say I was in the Bathroom all that night and Saturday I was in Bed completely drained because I couldn't keep anything down- not even water. It was the first time that I really got sick on the mission and I am going to be praying that I don't have to go through that again!

I know that the Lord takes care of us and His Love is always there for us. Trials, Pains, and Sicknesses come but it is exactly for that reason he suffered them for us. He knows us and what we are needing, we just need to go to Him and follow His counsel ¨Come unto Me.¨ I'm so grateful for the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that it is the Plan that our Heavenly Father has for our happiness here on Earth and with Him for the Eternities. What a blessing it is. Let's share it with more people! Love you all and hope you have a great week!
